Amaziah Perepelkin, 7, of White Bear Lake, looked through comic books during Sunday’s Minnesota Comic Book Convention at the Mermaid Entertainment and Event Center in Mounds View. At right, Matthew Lescenski of Burnsville organized his purchases. The convention, held quarterly at the Mermaid, is a small event for comic book collectors who are “looking for bargains and hard-to-find comics,” said organizer Alan Morton, a self-described “super groovy comic book convention promoter.” The prices ranged from 50 cents to hundreds of dollars. The next convention at the Mermaid event center will be held March 20.
