Linebacker Kyrei Fisher announced Monday that he would play college football for Arkansas instead of Minnesota. He had made a verbal commitment to the Gophers in May.

At that time, Kansas, Navy and Wyoming had expressed interest, but other schools showed interest during the summer and fall. Michigan States was also interested in Fisher, according to the web site Land of 10. He also visited Texas earlier this month.

The Tulsa World's Mike Brown reported that Fisher praised Tracy Claeys and Minnesota during a press conference on Monday.

"But here recently, there's been a lot of stuff going on, and Minnesota is 10 hours away and it's really hard for my family to get there," Fisher said "With that being said, I've decided to sign with the University of Arkansas."
