Nelson Pastor Selmer T. Nelson passed away Dec. 29, 2002 at age 95. He was born in Hartland, MN, the eighth of nine children. He graduated from Luther College, Decorah, IA in 1929 and from Luther Theological Seminary in 1932. He was ordained into the ministry at Central Lutheran Church by Dr. J.A. Aasgaard, President of the Norwegian Ev. Lutheran Church. He was united in marriage to Lila Stensrud Oct. 5, 1932. They had 54½ years together; 50 of those years in active ministry in parishes in Aneta, ND; Story City, IA; Luverne, MN; Mpls, MN and Milford, IA. Pastor Nelson was honored in June in recognition of his 70th year of ordination. He was a past president of the Kiwanis Club of Albert Lea, MN and a member of Sons of Norway. He is survived by two daughters, Pat Nelson and Mary (William) Hatfield; one son, Mark (Linda) Nelson; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; as well as two sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation one hour prior to the service at 11 AM Thursday (January 2nd) at Enga-White Mortuary, 5600 Excelsior Blvd at Hwy 100, St. Louis Park, with private interment later at Hartland, MN.
