Glarner Valerie Joan, age 56, slipped away quietly in her sleep after 30 years of surmounting various lymphoma cancers. She is greatly missed by her husband, Terrence, her daughter and son-in-law, Kristin & Grant Hartley, her son, Gregory, her beautiful granddaughter, Lauren, her mother, Lois Nash, her father and his wife, John & Janet Nash, her in-laws, Gaylord & Ruth Glarner, her sister and brother-in-law, Peggy & John Greiner, her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary & Dr. Jay Coonan, Anne Glarner & Doyle Arnold, Joe & Michelle Glarner, Michael Glarner, Anne-Marie Glarner; and 12 beloved nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her brother, John Nash, Jr. Perhaps because cancer repeatedly challenged her, Valerie had a deep passion for all aspects of her life as wife, mother, grandmother, counselor, volunteer, and friend. A licensed clinical social worker, she frequently helped newly diagnosed cancer patients and their families deal with crises. This short obituary can not possibly capture the beauty of her peson and her soul. Her visitation is Sunday (TODAY) 3-7 PM at WILLWERSCHEID & PETERS, 1167 Grand Ave., St. Paul. Valerie's Funeral Mass will be 10 AM Monday at THE NATIVITY OF OUR LORD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1900 Stanford Ave., St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, she would absolutely prefer memorials be sent to the Jeremiah Program (Basilica of St. Mary), Our Lady of Good Counsel Free Cancer Home, or the donor's choice.
