Genevieve Louise Morgan Ostendorf
Ostendorf Genevieve Louise Morgan, 85, passed away Dec. 12, 2001. Born in Crookston, MN, she graduated from Central High School, valedictorian of her class. Genevieve married Vernon Alfred Ostendorf on July 20, 1940. They made their first home in Walker, MN, later moving to Edina and then Eden Prairie, MN. A graduate nurse, ``Gen'' spent much of her career in the health care profession. Upon retirement, they moved to Garrison, MN, where she and Vern made their home for nearly 30 years. A tireless volunteer for the Lionness Club and her church, Gen was loved and respected by all who knew her and her contributions to the community. Preceded in death by sister, Jesse Mae Morgan Froyd of Bloomington & parents, Walter Raymond & Irene Winifred Slyter Morgan. Gen is survived by her husband, Colonel Vernon Ostendorf; and children, Charene Osberg, Wayzata, MN, Anita Speake (George), Lakeport, CA, Jean Hoag (Tom) of Phoenix, AZ, and Bruce Ostendorf (Brenda), Jackson, WY; brother, Walter L. Morgan, Crookston, MN; sister, Norma F. Hoerner, Detroit Lakes, MN; 7 grandchildren & 1 great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held at Light of the Cross Lutheran Church, Garrison, MN on January 3, 2002 at 11 am. Memorials may be sent to the church at PO Box 353, Garrison, 56450.
