Lentsch Leo H., age 75, of Shoreview, devoted husband of 48 years to wife, Rosemary, passed away December 13, 2001 after an inspired fight against cancer. Leo was well-known throughout the St. Paul area for his involvement in correctional work, youth sports in Shoreview and Mounds View, the St. Paul Municipal Softball Board, Meals on Wheels, St. Odilia Parish, and many other charitable organizations. Leo was born in St. Paul and graduated from Central High School. He served in World War II, where he was a highly decorated veteran of the Navy. He was a 1951 graduate of Hamline University. He worked as a probation officer for six years with the MN Dept. of Corrections. He spent over 25 years with the Ramsey County Community Corrections Department, where he retired as supervisor in 1987. He was preceded in death by son, Timothy; parents, Joseph & Theresa Lentsch and sister, Leona Drentlaw. Survived by wife, Rosemary; children, James of Apple Valley, John (Pamela) of Blaine, Mark (Sharon) of Woodbury, Maureen (Dennis) Damman of Arden Hills, Kathleen (Buzz) Bauman of St. Paul Park, Jeannine (Jed) Osborne of Shoreview, Patrick (Jodi) of Savage; 15 cherished grandchildren who saw him as their hero; brothers and sisters, Alvin (Lorraine), Jeanette Foster, Joseph (Charlene), Bernard (Gwen), Georgeanne Jereczek, Thomas, and Gloria Stockton; and many relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial Monday, December 17, 10:30 AM at ST. ODILIA CATHOLIC CHURCH, 3495 Victoria St. N., Shoreview, with a luncheon to follow. Visitation Sunday, 2-6 PM at THE HOLCOMB-HENRY-BOOM NORTH CHAPEL, 515 Highway 96 West at Mackubin in Shoreview and 1 hour prior to service at church. Prayer Service Sunday at 5 PM. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. Memorials preferred. 651-482-7606
