Fredrickson Carol Elaine, the daughter of Almer Skrutvold & Cordelia (Lee), was born on Jan. 9, 1924 in Wannaska, MN. At the age of 3, she moved with her family to a farm in Jadis Township of Roseau County. Carol attended school in Roseau, graduating in 1941. After graduation, she was employed by the AAA, Archie R. Lee Implement Co. and the Farmers Home Administration. In 1946, she married Hilding Kvarnlov at Messiah Lutheran Church. They had 3 children. They moved to Nash, ND in 1951, at which time Hilding was manager of the Nash Grain & Trading Company. As the result of a tragic car accident, Hilding was taken from his young family in Oct. of 1955. She and Roland Fredrickson were married on Jan. 9, 1966 in Roseau. They continued to live in Roseau where Carol was very active in many community activities, including Roseau County 2002 Senior Citizen of the Year, Roseau Friends of the Library, American Legion Aux., Roseau Area Arts Assoc., active member of Messiah Lutheran Church, advisory board for R.E.M. Roseau, board member of the Northern Lights Concert Assoc., Roseau Area Hospital Aux., Roseau Oak Crest Assoc., Four Seasons Senior Center Assoc., Northwest Minnesota Women's Foundation, Nachur Garden Club, Roseau VFW Aux., and the Roseau Girl Scouts. Carol Fredrickson passed away on Nov. 30, 2002 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, at the age of 78. She is survived by her husband, Roland Fredrickson of Roseau; children, Marsha (Warren) Hagen of Roseau, Michael (Cherlyn) Kvarnlov of Warroad, and Craig Kvarnlov of Alexandria, MN; step-son, Steve (Cindy) Fredrickson of Plymouth, MN; step-daughter, Susan (Charles) Sorvaag of Argusville, ND; 9 grandchildren, Paula, Todd, Kari, Jodee, Chris, Brian, Neal, Mark and Sarah; 3 great-grandchildren, Adam, Ellie and Emma; siblings, Clarice Bussard of Fairmont, IN, Ruth Dreher of Grand Rapids, MN, Metrice (Nick) D'Amore of Long Beach, CA, Ann Skrutvold of Roseau, Curtis (Gloria) Skrutvold of Roseau, Helen Thompson of Roseau, Joan Welte of Laguna Beach, CA and Mae (Jake) Twito of Albert Lea, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hilding; and brother, Clarence. Funeral services will be held on Wed., Dec. 4, 2002 at 1:00 PM at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Roseau. Visitation will be Tues. from 6-9 PM, with an 8:30 PM family service AT THE CHURCH. Interment will be at the Hope Cemetery in Roseau. Helgeson Funeral Chapel 218-386-1415
