Vincent P. Courtney, age 82, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital on November 30, 2001. He has gone to join his loving wife of 52 years, Margaret (Mike) Ann. Also preceded in death (in infancy) by his son, Curtis; grandson, Noah; 2 brothers, Howard of California and brother, Leonard Courtney, FSC. He will be forever missed by his surviving children, Mark (Cathy), Mary Courtney-Nasseff (Jerry), Vincent Joseph, Ann Courtney-Rassett (Bryan), Richard (Shari), Lisa Wissbaum (Michael), Timothy and Matthew; 11 grandchildren, Nicole, MIchael, Vincent, Ann, Maggie, Sam, Max, Patrick, Nicholas, Zachary and Courtney. Born and raised in St. Mark's Parish in St. Paul, Cretin High School class of 1936, University of Minnesota Law School-1942, WWII veteran; he practiced law in St. Paul for over 50 years-known as a ``gentleman's lawyer''; Past President of Ramsey County Bar Association; lifelong volunteer at St. Mark's Church in numerous capacities; active supporter of Cretin High School-member of its board of directors, awarded Bishop Cretin Award in 1980 in recognition of his contributions to Cretin; he remembered fondly his friends on Carroll Avenue and the cordial staff at the Green Mill; special thanks to Charlotte Berres; raised his eight children to be good Irish, Catholic, Democrats, ``not necessarily in that order''. Funeral leaving the Willwersheid & Peters Mortuary, 1167 Grand Ave., 9:40 am, Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial 10 am at the Church of St. Mark, Dayton Ave. @ Moore. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation 4-8 pm, Monday at the mortuary. Memorials preferred to the Church of St. Mark or Our Lady of Good Counsel Free Cancer Home. (651-228-1006).
