McMaster Kerstin McMaster, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, died on October 29, 2002, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Kerstin is survived by her sister, Elsie; brothers, Lief and Kjell; her biological son, Eric; her son, James; and daughter, Mary Lee; and grandchildren, Connor, Kendal, Natalie and Claire. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert F. McMaster; and her parents. Kerstin McMaster was born Kerstin Martensson in Gotenberg, Sweden on July 14, 1938. She was educated in fashion and pattern-making in Sweden. When she was in her 20's, she immigrated to the United States to design innovative new patterns for sewing in stretch fabric. In 1967, Kerstin founded KWIK SEW Pattern Co., Inc. Under her vision, KWIK SEW grew to be one of the largest manufacturers of home sewing patterns and books in the world. KWIK SEW is headquartered in Minneapolis, with offices in Toronto, Brisbane, and Auckland. Kerstin was regarded as a world-renowned expert in home economics, has lectured worldwide and authored numerous books on sewing techniques. Kerstin's positive attitude, warmth, humor, and strong sense of ethics and women's rights will be missed by never forgotten. Kerstin passed away peacefully at N.C. Little Hospice in Edina, and will be buried in Lakewood Cemetery at a private service. WERNESS BROTHERS 612-927-8641
