Sletten Eilet Jule, was born on August 17, 1914 and died on October 16, 2002 in Mpls at the age of 88. He was born in Mentor, MN and was one of seven children of Clara Knudtson Sletten & John Sletten. All preceded him in death. Eilet began his railroad career with the Great Northern Railroad at the age of 18 and continued uninterrupted in the railroad industry despite a variety of mergers, until his retirement at the age of 66. He wore his Burlington Northern jacket with delight and was a proud member of the Transportation Communications Employees International Union and the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees. Eilet was an observer rather than a talker, an independent, quiet and unassuming soul. His nieces and nephews will miss his dignity, peacefulness and gentle smile. Funeral Services will be held at 4 PM on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2002 at Enga-White-Gleason Funeral Chapel, 5500 Stevens Avenue (35W & Diamond Lake Rd). He will be buried in Mentor's 1st English Lutheran Church Cemetery on Saturday, October 26th. If desired, please send memorials to the Eloise Butler Wildflower and Bird Sanctuary.
