Roy L. Bergstrom, age 85, of Mpls, passed away Oct. 7, 2002. Born in Holmes City, MN on January 30, 1917. Son of Pastor Per E. Bergstrom (originally of Funasdalen, Sweden) and Ellen (Olson) Bergstrom of Rosholt, SD. Roy often referred to himself as ``Prastens pojke'' (the Pastor's boy). His father served as pastor to the Lutheran churches of Holmes City, Oscar Lake and Norunga, MN until 1923, then Dalbo and Maple Ridge, MN until 1933. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Vern, and his sisters, Eunice and Ardys (Bergstrom) Smedberg. Roy worked for Minnegasco for 30 years, retiring in 1982. He served in the Army during WWII as a surgical technician with the 37th Field Hospital serving in New Guinea and the Philippines. Devoted and selfless. A wonderful sense of humor. He will be remembered with great love, gratitude and affection by all who knew him. Survived by wife, Jane; sons, Gary (Linda) of Bloomer, WI, Bobby (Sondra) of Nashville, TN, Mark of Mpls, Greg (Kathy) of Mpls; daughter, Tami of Crookston, MN; grandchildren, Jason, Sarah, Andra, Alix, Crystal, Brandy, Brian, Cody, Samantha and Greg; great-grandchild, Logan; brother, Lloyd; many other relatives and friends. Visitation Thursday, 4:30-8:30 pm at BRADSHAW (McDIVITT-HAUGE), 3131 Minnehaha Ave S., Mpls. Funeral service Friday, 11 am at LIVING WORD LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4300 Nicols Rd., Eagan, MN.
