Hallbeck Carl V. ``Cully'' age 86, died Sept. 1 from a stroke. Born in Mpls on July 19, 1916. Lifetime resident of Mpls. Survived by daughter & son-in-law, Katherine A. & Clark Dodge of Normandy Park, WA; son, Robert Hallbeck of Banner Elk, NC; grandsons, Tate Dodge & wife Cindy, and Christopher Dodge of Federal Way, WA; granddaughter, Tiffany Dodge of Kalaheo, HI; great-granddaughter, Rebecca Dodge of Federal Way, WA; niece, Janet Holland of Mpls; along with other nieces & nephews. Graduated from the U of M, 1938. Worked for the Mpls Relief Dept. and Hennepin County Welfare Board. Worked in the insurance industry since 1947, was a CLU and past President of Mpls Health Underwriters, past President of Minnesota Health Underwriters, and Vice President of Mpls Life Underwriters. Worked for the Heart Fund in many capacities including State Vice Chairman. Devoted his life to the YMCA serving in many leadership roles including President, Vice President and Secretary of the Downtown Y's Men's Club. Was a Camp Counselor at Camp Ihduhapi, then served as Program Director and on the Management Committee. Charter member of the Southwest Dance Club since 1947. Active member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Was President of the Congregation, taught Sunday School, worked in Stephen's Ministry, President of Golden Shepherds and Chairman of the Board of Worship. He was a great emcee and always had a story. Memorial service Monday, Oct. 7, 1 pm at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 48th St. & France Ave S., Mpls. Memorials preferred to the church or the Downtown Y's Men's Club.
