Eden Fred Nelson

Nelson Eden Fred, 78, of Martin, SD, died Wed., Aug. 28, 2002 at the Bennett County Hospital. Fred was born Aug. 17, 1924 in Charles Mix County, SD to Carl & Mary (Cowell) Nelson. Fred served in the Navy during WWII as a Seabee. He married Ruby Loretta House on June 17, 1950 in St. Charles, MN. He worked for the US Postal Service from 1954-1985 as a city carrier in Bloomington, MN. He was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards. He also helped at the Senior Citizens Center. Survived by a son, Kenneth Eden Nelson of Lincoln, NE; daughters, Barbara Ann Nelson of Brooklyn Park, MN & Linda Marie Kunkel of Waseca, MN; grandchildren, Lisa Yvonne Kunkel, Brad Raymond Kunkel, Michael Dan Kunkel and Holly Marie Kunkel. Services were held on Aug. 31, 2002 at 2 PM at the American Legion in Martin, SD. Burial was in the Martin Community Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society.
