Tate Harris V. died suddenly at his home in Sun City West, Arizona, on August 13, 2002 at the age of 91. Born in Madelia, Minnesota, on March 25, 1911, to Vernon & Clara (Thompson) Tate, he graduated from Madelia High School. He served in the Navy during W.W.II. He lived in Ottawa, Le Sueur, Faribault, where he owned the Faribault Laundry, & in Columbia Heights from 1949 to 1979 before moving to Sun City West. An employee of the Columbia Heights School District for 25 years, he was Supervisor of Maintenance prior to his retirement in 1976. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Columbia Heights & Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church in Sun City West. A loving, caring husband, father, grandfather, friend he will be lovingly remembered by his family & friends. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Alberta; a son, Eugene, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; a daughter, Sonja (Delfon) Flitter of Prescott Valley, Arizona; 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, 4 brothers & many nieces & nephews. A memorial service was held at the Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church on Monday, August 19 at 4:00 pm. Graveside services will be held at Ottawa, Minnesota, at a later date.
