Dozier John M., 82, of Southern Pines, NC, died Friday, August 9, 2002 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. John was born in Rocky Mount, NC. He graduated from Duke University and served in WWII in the China-Burma-India Theatre as a bomber pilot. John was a newspaper publisher in Ohio before working at Duke University and serving as a Founding Director of the Research Triangle Park. He was Vice President at Macalester College in St. Paul from 1966-74. After three years at Kalamazoo College in Michigan, he served as President of the Minneapolis Society of Fine Arts until his retirement. During his time in the Twin Cities, John was on the boards of the Common Fund, the Student Loan Marketing Association (Sallie Mae), Twin Cities Public Television, St. Paul Chamber of Commerce and the St. Paul United Way. John was a sportsman and outdoorsman and loved the finer things in life. He is survived by loving wife of 55 years, Mary K.; his children, Jim Dozier of Minneapolis, Chris Dozier of St. Paul, Rosemary Donovan of Columbus, OH; his seven grandchildren; and brother, N.B.
