Comer Eric Reed, age 35, passed away July 15, 2002. Survived by father, John R. & Bonnie; mother, Janet, and close friend Betty Bonin; sister, Kristin Luse; nephew, Jacob and niece, Victoria; uncles, Michael Ellington (Mary) & Alvin Ellington (Julietta); aunt, Sandra; grandparents, Ed & Rosa Comer; and cousins, Elise, Lee, Megan, Shaun, Michelle, Cally and Michael. Eric will be greatly missed by his companion, Maria Mathison and by his lifetime friend, Steve Preus. Eric was born on August 19, 1966; he graduated from Washburn High School and attended the University of Minnesota. Eric fought a valiant and graceful battle against liver disease with tremendous assistance from the staff at the University of Minnesota Hospitals where he received care that extended and improved his quality of life. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and the transplant team that cared for Eric over all those years for their dedication and support. On Eric's behalf, the family wishes the best to all his fellow transplant recipients, particularly those who Eric had known for years. Visitation will be from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 18 at the Roseville Memorial Chapel at 2245 N. Hamline Ave., Roseville. A memorial service for Eric will be held at the Chapel at 11 AM on Friday, July 19. Memorials are preferred to The Sharing Life Foundation, 1457 Scheffer Ave., St. Paul, MN 55116. The foundation promotes research for liver disease, education related to the need for organ donation, and assistance to patients and families.
