Richard G. Guilford
Guilford Richard Griswold Guilford died July 15 at home in Minneapolis. Born in 1909, he was a social worker specializing in public welfare and child welfare. He taught social work at the University of Minnesota and the University of Nebraska where he also was Director of the Graduate School of Social Work. He is survived by Dorothy Guilford, his wife of 61 years. Children include Mary Plumb, Dale Guilford, William Guilford and Barbara Guilford Turner. Grandchildren are Gwynn, Megan, Caitlin, Hillary and Kelle Guilford; Benjamin Guilford Turner and Jessica Guilford Turner. Other surviving family members are sisters, Margaret Allyn and Eleanor Guilford, and nephews, John, Richard and Bruce Allyn. Also remembered are spouses of his children, David Plumb, Karen Sorensen Guilford, Patrice Smith Guilford and David Turner. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Friday, July 19 at the chapel at Lakewood Cemetery, 3600 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis.
