Agatha E. Brekke

Brekke Agatha E. Brekke, 95, of Mpls, died July 9 at Mt. Olivet Careview Home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Harvey J. Brekke and is survived by her daughter, Jean B. Herzberg of Mpls; son, Dr. John H. Brekke of Duluth; 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Agatha graduated from Fall Creek, WI High School in 1925, Ancker Hospital School of Nursing, St. Paul in 1928, and attended Columbia and Harvard Universities for post-graduate studies in public health and physical therapy. In the mid 1930's, Agatha served as a rural public health nurse for the Minnesota Dept. of Health Crippled Children's Division, driving alone throughout her territory in southwestern Minnesota. She was active in community and church activities serving as president of Fairview Hospital and Hennepin County Medical Auxiliaries, and instituting the Parish Nursing Program at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. A memorial service will be held Wed., July 17, 11 am, Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 4801 France Av S., Mpls. Memorials preferred to Mt. Olivet Careview Home, 5517 Lyndale Av.
