Mehta Ashwani K. ``Achi'', age 68, passed away on July 8, 2002. Preceded in death by father, Ram Nath Mehta. Survived by wife, Dhira Mehta; sons, Raj, Vimal, Ram (Stephanie); daughter, Rani (Darren) Wesley; mother, Raj Rani Mehta of India; grandchildren, Peter, Catherine, Carolyn, Nicholas and Zachary; sisters, Prem (Mohan), Toshi (Ishwar), Gurpiari (Prem) and Uma (Teji); brothers, Pran (Kamini), Madan (Usha), Ishi and Dishi; many nieces & nephews in the United States & India; stepchildren, Mrinalini, Jyotsna, Ayesha and Indrani. Achi was born in Sirinagar, Kashmir, India. He studied in India and earned a scholarship to Rochester Institute of Technology. After graduating, he worked for Dynacolor, where he helped in the development of the first color film. Dynacolor was later acquired by 3M, where he continued to work and retired last year after 45 years of dedicated service. His hobbies were fishing, Cadillacs and cigars. Funeral service Thursday, 7 pm at Peterson-Stohlberg Chapel, Hwy 88 & 19th Ave NE, Mpls. Visitation from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mayo Clinic.
