Helen Lorene (Jacobsen) Scott
Scott Helen Lorene (Jacobsen) Scott, 75, of Camilia Rose Convalescent Home, passed away July 8, 2002 from complications due to Parkinson's Disease. Helen was born August 3, 1926 in Minneapolis, MN to Joe Jacobsen & Agnes (Christiansen) Jacobsen and was the fifth of nine siblings: Elsie (Dolly), Joe Martin (Sonny), Violet (Sis), Doris (Harp or Dorie), Helen (Lulu or Jake), Marian (Mimi or Braider), Paul (stillborn), Joan, and Carol (Kitty). Helen was a ballroom dance instructor for Arthur Murray School of Dance, and later enjoyed gardening, trading in the stock market, and contesting. She was ahead of her time, as early as the 1960's, advocating organic gardening & nutritional eating. Throughout her life, Helen provided words of encourage- ment to friends and strangers alike, but she will be remembered most for her humor, fun-loving attitude, and Christian beliefs. In 1952 she was united in marriage to Jack Scott, Sr. Helen is lovingly remembered by Jack, her husband of 50 years; daughters, Cheryl (Richard) Philstrom of Scandia, Joanne (Stephen) Lautt of Brooklyn Park; sons, Jack Scott, Jr. of Hopkins, Timothy (Renee) Scott of Hopkins; grandsons, Matthew, Jeremiah and Timothy; sisters, Elsie Derus of Stillwater, and Carol (Thomas) Benedict of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charles Dellago, Vernon Johnson, Don & Jean Osbeck and Betty Foster; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Paul and Sonny; and sisters, Doris, Joan, Marian and Violet. Visitation 1 hour prior to service at church, and 5-8 pm Thurs at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd NW. Funeral service Fri 11 am at Coon Rapids Evangelical Free Church, 2650 128th Ave NW. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Mpls.
