Jung, Robert Lyle James of Edina, MN, died peacefully on April 5, 2015 at the age of 87. Robert is survived by his wife Millie; his children, Mary (Tom) Ehrlichmann, Susan Jarrett, David (Chris) Jung, Timothy (Jessica Tritsch) Jung, and Julie (Tad) Gullickson; siblings, Alvin (Doris) Jung and Marlin (Joan) Jung; grandchildren Emily, Jacob, Anne, Sarah, Beth, Matthew, Soren, Peter, Stefan, Nate and Grace; and great-grandchildren Isabelle, Ashley and Madison. He was preceded in death by parents Carl and Emma Jung; brothers, Julius Jung, Raymond Jung, and Elwood Jung; and sisters Alice Cassell, Della Hinrichs, and Margie Jung. Robert was born on February 25, 1928 in Osakis, MN. He graduated from Osakis HS in 1946. Robert served in the Army from 1946 - 1947 as part of the occupying forces in Japan. Robert attended Minnesota School of Business from 1948 - 1950. The defining moment in his life was when he married Millie Westley, originally of Stockholm WI, in 1956. In his professional life, Robert worked at Thermo King Corporation in Bloomington for 40 years, retiring in 1990 as VP of Corporate Materials. He traveled abroad extensively during his career with a special connection to Japan. He was a long term-member of Rotary, Toast- masters and Purchasing Association, regularly holding leadership positions. Outside of work he was focused on church and family. A member of Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis since 1955, he served in various ways including many years in the Usher's Society, on the church council, as a deacon and as president of the congregation. Bob and Millie's shepherding group breakfasts were the highlight of his week for over 25 years. Although he traveled extensively for work and was busy with many interests, there was never any doubt that his family and his faith came first. He especially enjoyed time with his family at the farm in Stockholm, Wisconsin and at the lake at Breezy Point. He will be remembered for his generosity, unfailing optimism and friendliness to all he met, and dearly missed by family and friends. A memorial service is scheduled for 1 pm on Saturday April 11th at Central Lutheran Church in downtown Minneapolis, preceded by an hour of visitation, with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. Burial of ashes will be at Sabylund Lutheran Church in Lund, WI at a later date. Memorials preferred to Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. No flowers please.
