Savelkoul Mary Joan "Mary Jo" Savelkoul. Born May 8, 1917, Ishpeming, MI, passed away July 21, 2003. Preceded in death by parents, Cornelius & Agnes Holland; brothers, Martin and Lawrence. Survived by husband of 62 years, Donald C. Savelkoul, married May 17, 1941; also children, Jeffrey (Karen), East Bethel, Jean, Coon Rapids, Edward (Terri), Blaine; grandchildren, Christopher, Michael (Randi Jo), Andrew, Katie (Travis), Bridget, Matthew, Kyle and Joseph; great-grandson, Joshua; sisters-in-law, Dolores Savelkoul, Vyonne Savelkoul, and Merriam Gorman (William). She graduated from Messmer High School, Milwaukee, WI. Attended University of MN School of Management. She was Vice President and Treasurer, Maple Lanes Bowling Center, Fridley, for 30 years. Volunteer at Unity Hospital Auxiliary, Fridley, 1500+ hours. Member of Fridley DFL Club (co-chairperson in the 1960's). At one time, Mary Joan was a newspaper reporter for the Mpls/ Northeast Argus Newspaper. Mary Joan was a secretary of the first Fridley Charter Commission. Memorials preferred to University of MN Medical Foundation for Alzheimer's Research or donor's choice. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, 10 AM, St. Olaf Catholic Church, 215 S. 8th St., Mpls.
