Roach Most Reverend Archbishop John R. Roach, Retired Archbishop of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis died Friday, July 11, 2003 of natural causes. He is preceded in death by parents, Simon and Mary Regan Roach; and sister, Virginia Leach and brothers-in-law Edward Leach and John Strunk. He is survived by his sister, Mona Roach Strunk of Shakopee; niece Mary Nell Best and husband Bob of Shakopee; nephew Michael Strunk and wife Shannon of Shakopee; nephew William Strunk and wife Sarah of Cocoa, Florida niece Kate Strunk Furst and husband Terry of Shakopee; niece Beth Strunk of Shakopee; grandnieces and grandnephews Meghan and John (Jack) Best, Zacharia, Jacob, Samuel, and Owen Strunk, Hilary and Chelsea Strunk, John and Emily Furst; niece Taree Leach-Junkersfeld and husband Mark of New Brighton; niece Beth Flynn and Bob Gatti of North St. Paul; niece Mary Jane Leach-Rudawski and husband Jerry of Shoreview; niece Pat Pierce and husband Greg of Shoreview; nephew John Leach of St. Paul; grandnieces and grandnephews Nicholas and Virginia Junkersfeld, Matthew Flynn and wife Gretchen, Andrew Flynn, Madeline and Tovah Rudawski, Kenneth Pierce; and cousins Fr. Frank Roach, Jerry and wife Lorraine Roach, and Mary Sauber. Reviewal will be held from 4 pm-8 pm, Monday, July 14, 2003 at the Basilica of St. Mary, 88 North 17th St., Minneapolis, with an evening prayer service at 7 pm. A reviewal will also be held from noon-9 pm, Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at the Cathedral of Saint Paul, with prayer services at noon, 3 pm, 7 pm, & 9 pm. Additional viewing will be held at the Cathedral 11 am-2 pm, Wednesday, July 16, 2003, just prior to the Mass of Resurrection. Archbishop Harry J. Flynn will preside at the Mass of Resurrection at 2 pm, Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at the Cathedral of St. Paul. Interment will take place immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota.
