Fleming Alan W. Fleming, age 79, of Minneapolis. Died June 29. Preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Noel, Dean, Helen and Fritz. Survived by his wife, Liz; son, Mike (Sheila); daughter, Susan Seidl (Mike); grandchildren, Melissa, Jessica, Matthew, Lauren and Jenny. A lifelong resident of Minneapolis, Al grew up in Kenwood, played hockey on Lake of the Isles, and graduated in 1941 from Minneapolis West High School. A proud Marine, he served in WWII as a radio operator in the Pacific Theater, landing on Saipan, Tinian and Okinawa, and as part of the occupying forces in Nagasaki. He truly enjoyed sailing and was past Commodore of the Lake Harriet Yacht Club. He retired in 1988 after 20 years with Employer's Mutual. Al died peacefully having survived battles with cancer, heart and kidney failure. Memorial Service Friday, July 11, 2 PM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1917 Logan Ave S., Minneapolis.
