Chalfen Yetta Kaluser Chalfen, age 86, of Minneapolis. Preceded in death by husband, Carl M. Chalfen. Survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Susan Chalfen & Dan Silvers, Edina, Diane & Dr. Richard Smookler, Mendota Heights; grandchildren, Ira Glassberg & fiance Shirlianna Webb, Elizabeth & Fred Krietzman, Jill & Mark Koritz, Michael & Erica Glassberg, Harrison & Rabbi Rachel Smookler, Michelle & David Katz, Marc Smookler; 11 great-grandchildren, Marlee, Roxanne, Ean, Talia, Zacharia, Rudy, Sophia, Beta, Amelia, Alexander and Carly. Yetta devoted her life to her family and friends. Both she and Carl were proprietors of Minneapolis' oldest restaurants, the legendary Nankin Cafe. Carl and Yetta were always together and shared 65 wonderful, happy and productive years. Yetta was an exceptional gift giver to many community causes, charities and religious denominations; to those she came in contact with; and to those in need. She will be remembered in everyone's heart as a dedicated, kind, loving and generous mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wonderful friend. A special thanks is extended to her very caring caregivers, Leslie Bonk, Gladys Brimah, Grace Pierre-Louis, Gail Shultz, Barbara Hart, the staff at Heartland Hospice and especially her longtime friend and family physician, Dr. Neil Hoffman. Yetta was a beautiful person inside and out and will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral services SUNDAY (TODAY) 1 PM TEMPLE ISRAEL, 2324 Emerson Avenue South.
