Johnson Janice Elizabeth "Betty" Johnson of Hopkins, died June 24, 2003 at age 88. She was a graduate of Miss Woods and Macalester College and was a 2nd grade teacher at Widsten Elementary School in Wayzata for 40 years. Betty was a contributor to many organizations. Closest to her heart were the Thursday Musical Scholarship and the Bethel College Scholarship in memory of Vera Narregang. She was a member of the Woman's Club of Minneapolis, and had a love for sports, convertible cars and music, especially Mozart. Preceded in death by her parents, Lewis & Olive Johnson; sister, Mona Yates; longtime friend, Vera Narregang. She is loved and will be deeply missed by her dear friend, Lorraine Purdy; her "adopted" family, Mark & Valerie Honey & their son, William; loving caregiver, Anita Barnes; the family of Rick & Dureen Ruff; her cousins, friends, colleagues and students. Visitation 4-6:30 pm Friday at David Lee Funeral Home in Wayzata. Memorial Service 2 pm Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 12th St. at Nicollet Mall in Mpls.
