McKenzie Roderick J. "Rod", 76, of Eden Prairie, died 6/21/03 surrounded by the love of his family and treasured friends. Preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia. This marvelous man was the adored husband of Barbara McKenzie; devoted father of James McKenzie (fiancee Ibeth Pool) of FL; also the proud grandfather of 2, Ryan and Erica McKenzie & only brother of Fran McKenzie Anderson of CA; step-father of Drake, Cory & Reed Benson and brother-in-law of R.D. (Sherry) Tyler & uncle & special cousin to many. A graduate of Mpls. Washburn High and Davis College in CA. He served in WWII underwater demolition teams as a US Navy Frogman & later as rescue ski patrol in California's Sierra Madre Mountains. He learned the life of a cattleman at the CA ranch of his father & later became a cattle buyer for Swift & Co. in CA, then in the Midwest. For many years he managed all Southdale Mall's leases, contracts & expansions. He volunteered for 20 years as a Bloomington Fireman, 15 years as Chief. He loved nature & the great outdoors as a sportsman, woodsman, boatsman and fisherman supreme. His energy & spirit touched many a young life as he guided or coached teams in youth sports for years. A devoted churchman, he gave generously of his time and varied skills. His vast # of friends reflect his spirited gregariousness. How he will be missed, this magnificent, brave and good man! `Til we meet again, Rod, we are so blessed by our many, cherished memories.
