Hitz, Duane E. age 75, of Homosassa, FL, died suddenly of a heart attack on January 28, 2015 in his home. Duane was born on November 24, 1939 in St. Paul, MN. He was a member of the Class of '57 Cretin H.S., Graduated U of M, Company Commander MN Nat. Guard 16 yrs. (Company A 101st S&T Btln.), served as chairman on public service committees too numerous to mention. He taught business law for CPCU and worked at E.W. Blanch Company for many years. He worked for G.L. Hodson & Son in New York, subsequently returned to MN, and ultimately, to Florida. He had 23 years of glorious retirement, including a 110 day cruise around the world. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcella and Bernard Hitz, and son, Duane Hitz, Jr. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 52 years, Theresa (nee Bieza) a.k.a. Terry Hitz; daughter, Amy Miller and her husband Seth of Bonita Springs, FL, and their children Jacob, Hannah, and Benjamin; his daughter Michelle Wallick and husband Michael of Apple Valley, MN, and their children, Shane, Catherine, and Andrea; brother William Hitz and his wife, Maxine (Nedved), brother Gary Hitz and his wife JoAnn (Fried), and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends (many called him "dad" or "dad 2"), all of whom he loved dearly. Most of all he was known for his loyalty and integrity. His word was his bond. The viewing will be at the Willwerscheid Natural Burial & Cremation at 235 W. Wentworth Ave. in West St. Paul from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on Monday, February 9. The funeral celebrating his life will be at St. Peter's Catholic Church at 1405 Highway 13 in Mendota, MN at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 10, preceded by an hour of viewing at the church. Interment afterwards will be in the Resurrection Cemetery mausoleum.
