Thomas Michael J., 51, Caldwell, ID died Monday, June 16, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer. Michael was born on June 13, 1952 to Donal and Carol Thomas of Minnetrista, MN. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1970 and attended college at Mankato State University before serving in the 3rd Infantry of the US Army. In 1979, he graduated with distinction from the University of Minnesota with a degree in soil science. After college graduation, he moved to Idaho and began work as a soil scientist. In July of 1985, he married his soul mate, Susan Lowman. Michael Thomas was a private, humble spirit who improved the quality of every setting. Michael was totally committed to making a positive difference in this world. He was a trusting, gentle man. He inspired many of us to strive for higher levels of behavior, more dignity, more integrity, and more respect for all living things. Michael brought a trail of joy with him wherever he went. Michael is survived by his wife, Susan of Caldwell, ID; his parents, Donal and Carol Thomas of Minnetrista; his sisters & brothers-in-law, Pam & Clyde Simons of Hayden Lake, ID, Barb & Mark Brewer of Minnetrista, Bev & Mark Pruess of Atwater. Other survivors include Susan's daughter & son-in-law, Angela Lowman and Sean Bolton of Seattle, WA; mother-in-law, Mary Jones of Boise, ID; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ginger & Joe Walmsley of Menlo Park, CA and Sharon & Ted Becker of Boise, ID. In addition, Michael is survived by nieces and nephews, Jason and Jenny Kempthorne, Corey, Casey and Randy Hultquist, Graham Michels, Phil Becker & his wife, Andrea and daughters, Alyssa and Lauren, and Eric Becker & his wife Elena. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins in MN, UT, ID and CA. A memorial service will be held for Michael at St. John's Lutheran Church, 2451 Fairview Lane, Mound, MN on June 26, 2003 at 4 PM.
