George L. Beckman
Beckman George L. Beckman, 62, of Lakeville died on August 13, 2005 after a courageous 19 month struggle with brain cancer. He was born Nov. 12, 1942, in Minneapolis, MN. He was preceded in death by parents Oscar & Priscilla Beckman. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Mary (Van Horn); cherished children Cindy (Neal) Roberts, Chris Beckman, Kevin (Nikki) Beckman, Laura Beckman (fiance Scott Patterson), and Matthew Beckman; sister Lynn (Fred) Bones; brother-in-law Lloyd (Margaret) Van Horn; grandchildren Cami, Skylar, Collin, and Ally; as well as nieces, nephews, and many other family and friends. George will also be missed by his dog and great friend, Jake. George was an active member of the Lakeville Police Reserves. He retired from General Motors Parts Division after 35 years of service. At the time of his illness, he was employed by Schmitty & Sons bus company. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, and softball. He was also an avid bowler, even rolling a sanctioned 300-game. Thank you to all the wonderful doctors, nurses, social workers, and therapists that took care of George, as well as to everyone in the Brain Tumor Support Group. Visitation is 5-7pm, Aug. 18 at White Funeral Home in Lakeville, MN. Memorial services will be held at All Saints Catholic Church, Aug. 19, at 11am. Private family interment will be at Lakewood Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to The American Brain Tumor Assn., 2720 River Rod., Suite 146, Des Plaines, IL, 60018.
