Edward J. Stevens
Stevens Edward J. Stevens of Mahtomedi (40 year resident of Lake Elmo) died June 14 less than two months before his 89th birthday. He was a research chemist at 3M for most of his professional life, retired in 1982 then returned as a part-time consultant from '84-'94. He held several patents. He was active in local DFL politics, a frequent letter writer to local newspapers, and interested in many social and conservation issues. His wife of 51 years, Peg, died in 1998. He is survived by sons John (Boston, MA), David (Mahtomedi) and their families. The memorial service is Saturday, June 21 at 10:30 am at Twin Cities Friends Meeting, 1725 Grand Ave, St. Paul (3 blocks west of Snelling), 651-699-6995, with a pot-luck lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to American Friends Service Committee, St. Croix Valley Friends Meeting, and Lakeview Homecare and Hospice.
