Alari Heino, MD. Born in Vaimastvere, Estonia on August 1, 1920. He began his medical studies in Tartu, Estonia. He did not know it then, but it turned out that his medical education would be obtained in 3 different countries in 3 different languages. His studies were interrupted by WWII and resumed as a displaced person at the University of Tubingen from where he graduated in 1946. After immigrating to the USA, he trained in radiology at NW Hospital and the University of MN. He was called in to military service as a radiologist and served mostly at Aberdeen, MD until his discharge as an Army Major. Returning to Minnesota, he worked as a radiologist at the VA, Buffalo Hospital, Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague and the Mpls Diagnostic Center until his retirement. Heino is survived by his wife of 57 years, Heljo. Heino had many gifts and interests. He was a poet, artist, and nature lover who grew flowers. At his request, private services at a later date.
