Knox A down-to-earth man with great pride, honor, and principle died May 14, 2002. George Durie Knox, 84, was known to everyone who loved, admired and respected him as the ``Mayor of Spider Lake''. His legacy, spirit and the memories of his life will never be forgotten. Preceded in death by father, George P. Knox; mother, Christina Durie Knox; brother, Robert Alexander Knox; beloved wife, Marion Ellen Knox; son, Ian Alexander Knox; and son-in-law, Michael Stephen Manahan. Survived by son, G. Eric Knox, MD and favorite daughter-in-law, Jeanne Anthony Knox; daughter, Christine Ruth Manahan; grandchildren, Amy Vickers Knox, Heather Alexander Knox, Michael Ian Manahan, Amanda Christine Manahan, Ian Thomas Knox and Sarah Elizabeth Knox. His distinguished career in sales included Northwest Airlines (1941-1951), Executive Secretary of the Mpls. Aquatennial (1951-1952), Jensen Printing (1952-1954), McGill Printing (1954-1964) and Imperial Printing (1964-1986). His professional success was based on ``taking good care of the customer and the rest will take care of itself.'' A celebration of the life of George Durie Knox will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 18 at the home of Dr. & Mrs. Knox, 4315 Fremont Ave S., Mpls. Friends are welcome to share and celebrate.
