Krause Katherine Louise Nelson Krause, a long-time Minneapolis resident, died in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, on December 11, 2002, where she had been under the devoted care of her son, Frank, Jr., since the death of her husband, Frank Brooks Krause. Katherine was born on January 25, 1916, in Taylors Falls, MN, the daughter of Arnold and Jennie Nelson. She graduated from Minneapolis Washburn High School and the University of Minnesota, and worked as a medical technologist until 1944. In 1941, she married the man who filled her life with laughter and love for nearly 60 years, Frank Brooks Krause. Katherine served on the Board of Directors of the Minneapolis Society for the Blind and was a volunteer at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. She was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, the P.E.O. Sisterhood, and an enthusiastic participant in the "Rusty Ladies" group. An avid golfer, she was a member of Ponte Vedra and Sawgrass golf clubs in Florida, and the Minikahda Club in Minneapolis, where she held the title of Nine Hole Champion for one glorious year. An exceptionally talented artist and devoted wife and mother, Katherine loved painting, decorating, entertaining, golfing, traveling, music, dancing, and most of all, her family. She is survived by her sister, Bonnie Jean Weigel; her daughters, Mary Krause, Jeanne Kosek, and Nancy Krause; her son, Frank Krause, Jr.; and her three grandchildren, Noel, Nelson, and Maclin Tucker. Her cheerful spirit, her giving nature, and her charm and grace will be missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 20th, at 2:30 PM in the Plymouth Church chapel at 1900 Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis. Memorials may be made in Katherine's name to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.
