Marcella Elias

Elias Marcella, passed away on June 9, 2003 in Coon Rapids. Mrs. John B. Elias was born Marcella Catherine Gussman on July 7, 1910 in Virginia, MN to Joseph M. & Katherine Janesky Gussman. She attended schools in Virginia, graduating in 1927 from Roosevelt High School. This was followed by attending business classes for 2 years. Marcella and John B. Elias were married on August 3rd, 1936 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Virginia. Following their marriage they lived in various cities including Virginia, Hibbing, Crookston, Fargo, Worthington, and Coon Rapids. She was an active member of the Catholic Church and held offices in church organizations. She was preceded in death by her brother, Francis Joseph Gussman. Marcella is survived by her husband, John at Camilla Rose Center, Coon Rapids; and children, Jack (Judy) of Sanibel Island, FL, Katherine Helgeson (Jerry) of Boise, ID, and Virginia Goor (Neil) of Coon Rapids; 10 grandchildren; and 25 great- grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Francis (Clarice) Ryan of Hibbing, and Mrs. Edward (Delores) O'Mara of St. Paul. The celebration of her life will be held with a Mass of Resurrection at Church of the Epiphany, 111th & Hanson Blvd. NW, Coon Rapids on Wednesday, 6/11/03 at 10 AM, with visitation at 9 AM.
