Mooney Kathryn Doyle Setre Mooney, age 96, died peacefully at home May 30, 2003 surrounded by family members and dedicated caregiver, Matilda Dadzie. Preceded in death by loving daughter, Mary Ann (Setre) Cook; son-in-law, Tom Cook; husband, Kenneth Setre and husband, John Mooney. Grieving family members who joyously celebrate her life include son, Tom Setre of Minneapolis and Snowmass, CO; daughter, Peggy (Setre) Espinda of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Tim (Peg) Cook of Madison, WI, Jim (Mie) Cook of Columbia, MD, Peter (Amy) Cook of Bloomington, MN, Patrick (Tess) Cook of Seattle, WA, Teresa (Brent) Lien of Minneapolis, Paul Cook of Atlanta, GA, Larry Espinda of Sun City, CA and Colleen (Bill) Meffert of Atlanta, GA; Cook great-grandchildren, Michael, Tommy, Anna, Danny, Olivia, Matt, Laurel, Anne; Meffert great- grandchildren, Adam, Victor and Anna; great- grandson, Wyatt Lien (who in the last few years brought Mom unbelievable joy due to his constant visits) and great-granddaughter, Gaby Espinda. In 1930, she was in the University of Minnesota Business School's first graduating class that included women graduates. In 1949, she became the owner/manager of The Nordic Hotel at 9th St & 3rd Ave. She was first woman member of The Minneapolis Hotel Association. In the fifties and sixties she was owner/manager of a downtown Minneapolis teacher's placement bureau for the upper Midwest. Her community activities included membership for over 50 years in the Minneapolis Woman's Club, the University of Minnesota Women's Club, The League of Catholic Women, Board member of Minneapolis Girl Scouts. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 2, 11 AM at the Church of the Visitation, 46th & Lyndale Ave S. Visitation one hour prior to Mass at the church. Interment Lakewood Cemetery.
