Woodson Mildred Marie Woodson, age 67, of Burnsville, passed away peacefully at home on May 28, 2003. She was born October 1, 1935 in Greensboro, North Carolina to Leroy "Pete" Taylor and Mildred Irene Anderson Taylor. Preceded in death by her father, Leroy "Pete" Taylor; brother, Leroy Anderson Taylor; and former husband, Lewis Frederick Woodson. Survived by mother, Irene Taylor; sister, Carolyn Henry; daughter, Cheryl Woodson; 3 sons, Lewis Woodson, Mark Woodson and Frederick Woodson; 6 grandchildren, Tabetha, Tremaine, Alisha, Jazmyne, Charel and Rachael; daughters-in-law, Robin Woodson and Karen Woodson; former husband, Michael Maas; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends. Mildred was a 1957 graduate of Bennett College, Greensboro, North Carolina degreed in Chemistry and Biology. She studied for her graduate degree at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Mildred worked as a biochemist (hematologist). She did blood and cancer laboratory research at both the VA Hospital in Minneapolis and the University of Minnesota Hospital for 26 years before retiring in 1997. Mildred enjoyed her family more than anything. She was a proud mother and grandmother. Those who were privileged to know Mildred were enriched by the experience, as she always left a lasting impression. No one had a bigger heart. She will be missed by all her family and wealth of friends. To honor and celebrate Mildred's life, there will be a memorial gathering at Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel, 6527 Portland Ave. S., Richfield, MN on Monday, June 2. Visitation 4:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Disabled American Veterans, Minneapolis Chapter. Morris Nilsen Chapel 612-869-3226
