Golden (Falness) Betty Golden of Mille Lacs Lake, formerly of Maple Grove, was born on March 29, 1938 in Dawson, MN, the daughter of Roy & Olga (Melde) Falness. She was baptized and confirmed at Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church in Dawson. Graduated from Dawson High School class of 1956. After graduation, was employed in Mpls at Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. She met her future husband and she was united in marriage with Richard "Dick" Golden on August 26, 1967 at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown, SD. To this union, two sons were born, Todd Allen and Gary Richard. Betty was a full-time home maker until her sons graduated, and then worked at Life Touch until retirement. They were residents of Maple Grove and charter members of Lord of Life Lutheran Church. After retiring, they moved to their lake home on Mille Lacs Lake and wintered in Mesa, AZ. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was very special to her. She enjoyed travel, golf, playing cards, walking and reading. Her favorite hobby was shopping to add to her huge displays of collectibles, which were numerous and of a great variety. Betty was an enthusiastic collector. Betty fought a courageous battle with cancer, which started 16 years ago. Preceded in death by parents; mother-in- law, Agnes Fafrowicz; father-in-law, Al Golden; step-daughter, Kathleen Golden; sister-in-law, Betty Jean Falness; brother-in-law, Stanley Anderson; and nephew, Bruce Anderson. Survived by her husband, Dick; sons, Todd, Gary (Sabrina); step-daughter, Barbara (Jeff) Koob; step-son, David (Corie) Golden; grandsons, Richard and Jason Golden; step-grandchildren, Jesse Evans, Sarah and Carrie Rosnow, Michael, Samantha, Cassandra, and Alandra Golden; 1 step- great-grandson, Kolby; also survived by sisters, Delores (Curtis) Erickson, and Donna Anderson; brothers, Elton (Nancy), Russell (Betty), Roy (Judy), David (Colleen); aunt, Esther Falness; many nieces, nephews, great- nieces and nephews; cousins; friends; 2 great-great-nieces; and uncle, Frank (Marge) Buszta; and aunt, Ann Buszta. Service Saturday, 10 AM at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 18500 County Rd. 101, Maple Grove. Visitation Friday, 5-8 PM at Evans-Nordby Funeral Home, 34 - 2nd St. NE, Osseo.
