Morrell Anderson
Anderson Morrell Anderson, 86, of the Gibbon and Winthrop area died April 19, 2003 in New Orleans, Louisiana. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2003, at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon. Private internment will be in the Winthrop Cemetery in Winthrop. The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. at the church. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon is handling the arrangements. Morrell is survived by his wife, Margaret, of Gibbon; a daughter, Carol Grones, and her husband, Kirk, of Shorewood; a son, Gordon Anderson, and his wife, Charlotte, of New Orleans, Louisiana; and other family members. Early in his career he taught, coached and was the principal at Clearbrook High School in Clearbrook. He then became High School Principal in Gibbon, and from 1949 -1966 he became the superintendent of the Gibbon Community School. In 1966 he went into banking becoming the assistant cashier of the Citizens State Bank of Gibbon, later he became the Vice President of the bank and also a member of the banks Board Of Directors. He retired in 1987. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Morrell and Margaret Anderson Scholarship Fund thru Augustana Lutheran Church.
