Richardson Dr. Robert J. Richardson, quietly in his sleep Sunday at Friendship Village, Bloomington. Born January 4, 1914 in Slayton, MN, grew up in Slayton and Pipestone. Graduated from the University of South Dakota medical school. While working as an intern at Bethesda Hospital, St. Paul, Robert met nurse Helen Jacobson of Winthrop, MN. Married January 6, 1942 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, St. Paul. After service in the Army in New Guinea, Robert established a general practice in the Midway area of St. Paul. During that time, Robert helped found and served as the first president of the St. Timothy Lutheran Church, St. Paul. In the late 1950s, Robert returned to the University of Minnesota for ear-nose-throat studies and joined the Minneapolis practice that eventually merged with ENT Specialty Associates. Clinical professor of medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School and teacher of residents at many local hospitals, particularly the Veterans Administration. Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Otology and American Laryngological, Rhinological and Otological (Triologic) Society. Survived by wife, Helen; children, Mary Jo (David Nelson), Seattle; Pamela (Robert Allen), Stockton, CA; Robert, Los Angeles; and William, Minneapolis; sister-in-law Helen Jacobson, Winthrop, MN; five nieces; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services 10 AM Thursday at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 8400 France Ave., Bloomington; reviewal at 9 AM. Family interment at Fort Snelling Nat'l Cemetery. Memorial service Friday at Friendship Village. Memorials to St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Disabled American Vets and American Lung Assoc.
