Spaulding Edna M., age 99, died April 21 at Lakeside Nursing Home, Pine City, MN. Born Edna Nelson, April 5, 1904 in Neenah, WI. Preceded in death by husband, Kenneth C. Spaulding; son, Robert Spaulding and granddaughter, Patricia (Spaulding) Stockman. Survived by husband, Robert L. Upton; daughter, Jean Spaulding; daughter-in-law, Irene Spaulding; stepdaughter, Jeannette Porter and stepson, Thomas Upton; grandchildren, Constance Engleke, Bernard Jr., John, Charles, Anthony, Robert, and Grace Benz, Kenneth, Karen, Susan and Robert Spaulding, Steven and Fritz Porter, Sue Powell, Sandra Melendez, Robyn, Robert and David Upton; 31 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Edna lived at her home built on Lake Pokegema since 1965. Before moving to Pine City, Edna taught school in the Twin Cities. She was an accomplished artist who adored flowers, birds and many of the other natural beauties created by God. A member of the First Presbyterian Church, Edna enjoyed singing, playing the piano and organizing social gatherings. She was devoted to all of her family and friends. Memorials preferred to the First Presbyterian Church, 405 Main Street S., Pine City, MN 55063. Arrangements are by Swanson Funeral Chapel, 665 3rd Ave. SW, Pine City, MN 55063. A celebration of Edna's life is planned for Saturday, May 24 2003, 2 pm at First Presbyterian Church, Pine City, MN.
