Sarah J. Heryla

Sarah J. Heryla, age 83, of Columbia Heights. Co-founder of Pete & Sarah's A & W Root Beer Stand in Columbia Heights for 31 years. She was also well-known for her special Coney Island recipe. She pitched for Johnson Grocery in NE Mpls and once threw two no-hitters in one week and was the Metropolitan Player of the Year in 1937. Preceded in death by husband, Peter. She will be deeply missed by children, Peter (JoAnn) and David (Robbin); grandchildren, Peter (Rhonda) and Kara; great-grandchildren, Chase and Peter IV; brother, Mike and sister, Evangeline and other loving relatives and friends. Special thanks to the staff at North Memorial Hospital Hospice. Visitation Tuesday, 5-8 PM, and one hour prior to funeral service. Funeral service Wednesday, 12 PM, all at the funeral home.
