Murphy Elizabeth I. (Betty), Minneapolis, age 88, of congestive heart failure. Preceded in death by husband, Minneapolis Star columnist Bob Murphy, and two grandsons, Todd Benson and Evan Murphy. Survived by children, Colleen, St. Louis Park, Kevin (Karen), Sedona, AZ, Colin (Dee), Dallas, TX, Kathleen, Minnetonka; grandchildren, Chris Benson (Adrienne Holstad), Rochester, MN, Tim Murphy (Sara Sloan), Berkeley, CA, Meghan Murphy, San Francisco, Jessica Murphy, Albuquerque, NM, Michael and Spenser Murphy, Dallas, TX, Murphy and Noah Baker, Minneapolis; great-granddaughter, Bailee Benson, Rochester, MN, and many friends. Memorial Mass 2 PM Wednesday, May 7 at ST. STEPHEN'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2211 Clinton Ave S., Mpls. Family & friends gathering 1 hr. prior to Mass. Private family interment at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials preferred to St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Mpls, or Women Against Military Madness (WAMM). Betty's volunteer work and activism spanned six decades and included WAMM, St. Stephen's, St. Joseph's House and Variety Club Heart Hospital to name a few.
