Harman Janet Marie Harman, of Reno, Nevada, passed away on April 14, 2003 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 64. Jan was born and raised in Minneapolis, MN. She met her husband Al while he was on a business trip in Minnesota. They were married on May 6, 1961 and relocated to Orange, CA. They moved to Sunnyvale, CA in 1969, spending 3 years there before a job transfer took the family to Scarborough, ME in 1971. They spent 4 happy years before relocating back to Sunnyvale in 1975, where they lived and continued raising their family until 1998 when they retired to Reno. She loved bridge, making many good friends while thoroughly enjoying 5 wonderful years in Reno. She was a loving wife, mother of 3, grandmother of 4, and "Aunt Jan" to more than 32 nieces and nephews, enjoying her yearly visits to Minneapolis and Southern CA. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Al; son and daughter-in-law Greg and Sarah Jane Harman of Diablo, CA; daughter and son-in-law Kristi and Mike Potter of San Jose, CA; daughter Kathryn Forrest and partner Kim Gorden of Seattle, WA; grandchildren David, Brady, Gray, and Ryan; brother Rick Olson of No. Carolina; sister Marion Newcomb, sister and brother-law Joanne and Jack Hopps of Minneapolis; in-laws Diane and Ed Heitmann, Joyce and Lou Hoopingarner, and Joyce Harman of Southern CA. Jan was known for her quick wit and warm sense of humor. Her unique and contagious laughter will be missed by all. Her open heart and willingness to listen has touched many and made everyone she encountered truly feel welcomed as part of the family. She was "Mom" to many more than her three children and is held in a special place in many hearts for her giving spirit and good nature. Welcoming her through the heavenly gates are 3 baby Harmans; mother Esther and father Curtis Olson, brothers Cliff and Marshall Olson of Minneapolis; father- and mother-in-law Arthur and Leanore Harman, brother-in-law Art Harman, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary Jean and Hank Knapp of Southern CA. The memorial service will be held on Monday, April 21, 2003, at 10:00 AM, at St. Rose of Lima, 565 Zolezzi Ln, Reno.
