Mitchell T. Chepokas

Chepokas Mitchell T. Chepokas, age 9, died April 11, 2003 from Osteosarcoma - bone cancer. He is survived by his mother and father, Stephen and Becky Chepokas; sister, Melissa; and his dog, Pico; grandparents, aunts and uncles; numerous cousins; countless friends. Everyone's buddy, Mitchell loved people. He was a "good" boy, gifted with imagination and a love of adventure. His life was a miracle, well-documented on his web site, miraclesformitch.com. Acquainted with pain, disappointment, and unfulfilled dreams, a champion for Children's Cancer Research Fund, frequent guest on local radio talk shows, the subject of numerous newspaper articles. He brought indescribable joy to his parents, family, neighbors, classmates, residents of Chanhassen, and the staff of Fairview University Medical Center. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered for his affectionate spirit, "Huck Finn" smile, and mischievous grin; that boy smiling in the yellow rubber boots. Services will be at 7 pm Monday, April 14, 2003 at St. Hubert Catholic Church, 8201 Main St., Chanhassen, MN (952-934-9106). Visitation (closed casket) will precede the service from 5 pm to 7 pm. A reception will follow at St. Hubert's. All are welcome. A private burial will follow at a later date for family members.
