Epple Berniece, 77, of rural St. George, died Sunday, March 24, 2002 at the Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, April 6, 2002 at 1:30 PM at the St. George Catholic Church in West Newton Township, Nicollet County with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 12 noon until time of the service at the church. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Berniece is survived by her sisters, Bonnie Reitter of Las Vegas, and Mary Mills & her husband Nyle of Windsor, Colorado; by many nieces and nephews; and also by her faithful companion, her poodle, Mitzi. She was preceded in death by her parents. Berniece was born June 15, 1924, in West Newton Township, Nicollet County to John and Eleanor (Huelskamp) Epple. She graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1942 and St. Catherine's College in St. Paul in 1946. She then received her ``wings'' from the McConnel Flight School in Minneapolis. She was a flight attendant with Northwest Airlines for over fifty years, traveling all seven continents. In 1999 she was honored with the Presidents Award for her many years of service to Northwest Airlines. She enjoyed flower gardening. She was a member of St. George Catholic Church in West Newton Township, Nicollet County. The family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Brown County Humane Society.
