Barden, Elliott H. "Chuck" Died September 27, 2014 in Bloom-ington, Minnesota. He was born March 9, 1926 in Nottoway, Virginia. He lived in Amelia and Richmond, Virginia, and Salisbury, Maryland before moving to Minnesota. He is preceded in death by his parents Morton and Elizabeth Barden, and brother John Barden. He served in the U.S. Navy and graduated from NROTC at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, as a Lieutenant J.G. He also graduated with a business degree from the University of Richmond and spent most of his business life in the advertising and food industries. After college, he joined the advertising department of Richmond Newspapers, Inc. Later, he became an account executive with the Cargill, Wilson, and Acree advertising agency. His next stop was advertising manager for Delany Foods in Salisbury, Maryland. Dulaney was later acquired by the Green Giant Co. and the family moved to Minnesota. Later Green Giant was merged into the Pillsbury Co. Elliott Barden enjoyed and was passionate about volunteer community service. He was a longtime member and served as President of the Edina Lions Club. He was a recipient of the Helen Keller Sight Award from the Minnesota Lions Eye Bank. Upon retiring from Pillsbury, he joined the Board of Directors of Pillsbury's national community service retiree group, The Golden Ambassadors. He served as Chairman of this group for 3 years and continued community service pro-jects for many years until his health declined. Elliott is survived by wife, Shirley Roach Dickey Barden; sons and daughters-in-law, Lee & Christy, Chris & Robin, and Dave & Janis; stepsons and step daughters-in-law, Robert & Krissi Dickey and Robin Dickey; 14 grandchildren, Marcus, Lauren, John, T.J., Julia, Michael and Ashley Barden; Kathryn, Billy, Susan, Dara, Bobby, Andy and Jessica Dickey; and great-granddaughter, Tori Dickey. He is also survived by brothers, Rucker (Nancy) Barden and Ed (Nancy) Barden of VIRGINIA. A special thank you to the com-passionate caregivers at Friendship Village of Bloomington, MN and Methodist Hospital Hospice. Funeral Services will be held 2 PM Friday, October 17 at the Norman-dale Hyland United Methodist Church, 9920 Normandale Blvd., Bloomington, 952-835-7585, with visitation at 1 PM. Interment at Ft. Snelling. Memorial donations may be sent to the Animal Humane Society, 845 Meadow Lane N., Golden Valley, MN 55422.
