Fraser Robert Eldon "Bob" Fraser ATTN: POWELL CANDY EMPLOYEES Bob Fraser passed away on April 8, 2003 surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 31, 1927 in St. Joseph, MO, a city he loved dearly. He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Ginny); children, Diane Fraser Carlson (Tim); son, George Powell Fraser (Annie); grandchildren, Emily Carlson, Stuart Fraser Carlson and Gwendolyn Carlson; brother, Donald Fraser Jr.; stepchildren, Michael Donohue, Kim (Chuck) Meyer and Kristin (Alex) Ansted; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by Mary Gwen Powell, mother of Diane and George; and parents, Donald & Myrtle Gerding Fraser. Bob was a charter member of the Chapel Hills Congregational Church, Edina, where he served on various church boards and was on the board of trustees. Bob graduated from Central High School and attended St. Joseph College, Pepperdine College, Central Missouri State University, and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Northwest Missouri State University. He was a Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. After college, he was employed by Johnson & Johnson. On March 15, 1954, he joined Powell's, Inc. as a salesman, became treasurer in 1956, president and CEO in March of 1967, and also served as chairman until the company was sold in 1991. Bob was active in the National Confectioners Assoc., serving on its board of directors for many years, and serving as chairman from 1988-89. In 1990, he received the Distinguished Service Award, the highest honor given by the NCA. He was a director of Lake of the Isles Norwest Bank, member of Interlachen Country Club for 37 years serving as president in 1984. Lifetime member of the Tralee Golf Club, Tralee, Ireland and a member of the Pinnacle Peak Country Club, Scottsdale, AZ. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Noyes Home for Children, 801 N. Noyes Blvd, St. Joseph, MO 64506-2899, or N.C. Little Hospice, 7019 Lynmar Lane, Edina, MN 55435. Interment Dawn Valley Cemetery. Funeral service 1 pm Saturday, April 19, 2003 at Chapel Hills United Church of Christ, 6512 Vernon Ave., Edina, with visitation one hour prior to service at church, and also 5-8 pm Friday at: Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel W. 50th St. at Hwy 100 952-920-3996
