Kaner Myrna, 61, Plymouth, Minn., died Saturday morning after a short struggle with leukemia. Preceded in death by her father Abe Kaner, Myrna is survived by mother, Esther Kaner, Superior, Wis.; sisters Barb (Ray) Munic, Duluth and Elyse Kaner (fiance George Bigelow) Fridley. Born and raised in Superior, Wis., Myrna moved to Mpls in 1959, where she graduated from the U of M with a bachelor's and master's degree in education. She taught elementary school for the Mpls Public Schools until she retired and, in 1997, began a new career as an ESL teacher for the Hopkins' Adult Options Program. Myrna volunteered on the Plymouth Arts Council. She tutored children in the Robbinsdale School District and was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma educational organization. Donations to Hopkins Adult Options Program preferred in lieu of flowers. Myrna loved travel, the arts, family, friends and her cat, Pooka. She will be deeply missed, but her essence remains and she lives on in our hearts. Funeral will be held at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 North 19th St., Superior, Wis., 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 8.
