Eide Alice Lorraine, age 84, died on March 11, 2002 in Mesa, Arizona after a month in the hospital following heart surgery. Alice was born in St. Paul on Jan. 12, 1918, the daughter of Swedish parents, Alma (Brandstrom) and Carl Edgren. She married Vernon Eide on June 20, 1942 in St. Paul. She followed her husband to Canada during his service years. After the war, they returned to So. St. Paul where she was a homemaker and raised four children. They lived in the St. Paul and Minneapolis area until 1994 when they moved to Mesa, Arizona. Alice was an accomplished musician, and was still playing the piano and organ and other instruments until recently. She loved performing with her husband in churches and at events. She also loved entertaining and was known as a great hostess. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Vivian Bergstrom, and two brothers-in-law. She is survived by her beloved husband, Vernon Eide; children, Timothy (Beverly) Eide, Kristine (Roger) Eide-Christensen, Jonathan (Connie) Eide, Richard (Gaylene) Eide; 9 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Hubal; nieces, nephews and many friends. A memorial service will be held MONDAY, MARCH 18, 7:00 PM at the NORTHWESTERN COLLEGE CHAPEL, 3003 Snelling Ave. N., St. Paul. Visitation at 6:00 PM. Memorials preferred to Mission America.
